Our Hotel in Irving, TX Minutes from Four Seasons
The PGA Tour comes back to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for the HP Byron Nelson Championship May 13-19, 2013. The event brings many of the top golf players from the tour and brings fans from all over the nation to spectate as they work through the challenging course at the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas in Irving, TX. The event is one of the biggest sports weekends in the Dallas area and is also the most charitable, raising over $127 million since its inception.
THE COURSE
The par-70 course which measures 7,166 yards from the championship tees has recently received a major redesign offering a new layout, designed to be challenging for even the top players on the PGA Tour. Designed in the early 1980s by Jay Morrish with input from Byron Nelson and Ben Crenshaw, the course also received major renovations in 2007 to give it a more traditional feel. The number 3 hole is a 528 yard par 4 with water along the right side and bunkers placed on the left. It remains the course’s most difficult hole. However, the number 17 is still the signature hole on the course with a lake hugging the green.
THE CHARITY
The money raised throughout the year and during the HP Byron Nelson Championship allow the Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers to serve more than 7,000 children and families every year. The goal has always been to create sustainable change and empower urban professionals with innovative strategies that work in the inner-city through mental health services and educational programs. Last year, the tournament raised over $5 million bringing the total money donated to over $127 million since it began.
The drama of the course always provides excitement to the fans and challenges to the players and the champion is often decided in the final holes.
