As Arlington was getting nervous about losing the Rangers with Dallas showing interest in the team, they released plans of building a new stadium with a $1 billion budget. This new ballpark extends the contract between the City of Arlington and the Team and will keep the Rangers in Arlington until 2054! The plans have been approved and new Rangers stadium plans to be open in time for the 2021 Season!
With the $1 billion budget, the stadium is expected to have many fun and new amenities, including a retractable roof which will be able to shield attendees from the unbearable heat in the summer! Even with all of the knew exciting amenities, the stadium will still maintain a classic ballpark look that Globe Life Park is known for and will hold between 42,000 and 4,000 people.
The new stadium will be south of Globe Life Park, closer to AT&T Stadium. It will also be connected to Texas Live!, a development of shops and restaurants around an outfield courtyard with a view of the ballpark. This will give people a view of the game from outside the stadium. Construction will begin as early as this fall for Texas Live! while it will take a bit longer to nail down the details of the new Rangers Stadium.
